UAV testing and evaluation

UAV testing needs to establish whether the whole system can do its job. That includes the payload, its connections and the data you need at the end. Dronewest helps you plan practical checks around the decision you need to make, from an early prototype to a proposed integration change.

Start with the question the test needs to answer

Before choosing a test, define the decision it will support. You might be comparing a proposed configuration, checking a payload integration or investigating a result that does not match expectations. We agree the scope, expected behaviour and evidence needed before work begins.

The plan should describe the configuration being assessed, the conditions that matter and what counts as an acceptable result. It should also identify what cannot be established within the available time, equipment or access, so you know where further work is needed.

Check how the parts work together

Testing can look beyond the aircraft to the connections between payloads, software and the people using the results. Depending on the project, the scope may include checking a prototype part for fit and access, reviewing data transfer or tracing a problem through the workflow.

Mark’s technical work has included UAV trial projects, quality assurance, proof-of-concept testing and product documentation. Hands-on experience with CAD, 3D printing and machining also informs the practical questions: can the part be made, fitted, accessed and changed when needed?

We work through the agreed checks and record the conditions alongside the observations. Where a change is made, repeat checks help show whether it addressed the original issue and whether anything else needs attention. Any flight activity needs its own agreed scope and arrangements.

Use the findings to decide what comes next

The useful outcome is a record you can act on: what was assessed, what happened, what remains uncertain and what needs another check. Findings can inform a design revision, integration change or further evaluation before a wider rollout.

This service is practical testing and evaluation within an agreed scope. It does not provide aircraft certification or regulatory approval. Send the system details, the issue you are trying to resolve and any existing results so we can discuss a suitable starting point.
